Blankster Volumes B, C & D

I gave you a taste of my Blankster Compilations with volume A. The thing about these is that there is no restriction as to what I will put on them. You might hear Pearl Jam followed by Britney Spears. Maybe some Bjork & then Neil Diamond. Maybe Eminem followed by System of a Down followed by Billy Joel followed by Queensryche. I'm crazy like that. The Only way for you to really grasp the idea is for me to give you a few of them. So here are Blankster Compilations volume B, C & D.

At this point you should have noticed my CD covers. I love Photoshop. What I can do in Photoshop I figured out for myself although I would like to go to school for graphic design. Being that each Blankster CD Volume is a letter (A, B, C, etc.) I figured the cover should coinside with that. This made me think of the relationship between rock music & sex or more notably women. There's also a correlation between music & celebrity so I decided the cover art would be a female celebrity whose name started with the letter of the compilation.

Blankster Volume A

Let's start out this blog with one of my earliest compilation Cd's. Wait, hold on, I know. You're thinking, I thought this was called Rules for making a mix tape. It is. I like the idea of mix tapes. I used to love to make them. Honestly, making compilation Cd's isn't quite as fun, or personal. To make a mix tape you had to invest a significant amount of time and energy. For a CD you just pick files and arrange them mostly. But, the times they are a changin' so now instead of sitting in front of a dual tape deck for hours, or days, you sit in front of a computer for an hour, two tops.

Anyway, my first Cd's weren't any brilliant concept, just a random collection of songs. Songs that were on the radio at the time or maybe just something I was listening to for no apparent reason. This was at the time of Napster and then whatever replaced Napster when it went down. Just for the record, as a musician, you should go out & buy Cd's or records not download songs illegally. I guess you could hit up i tunes or whatever but personally I'm still a fan of listening to an artists album the way they intend you to. When I'm in the mood for a mix, I'll burn it.

So I called my earliest CD compilations Blankster CD Volume whatever. A through Z. I'll start with a track listing for A. Here you go.

06. Still in Love Song - The Stills
07. Fascination Street - The Cure
08. All Over Again - Phantom Planet
09. Billie Jean - Michael Jackson
10. Pretend to be Nice - Josie & the Pussy Cats
11. I've Seen it All - Bjork featuring Thom Yorke
12. Heroin is So Passe - The Dandy Warhols

# 21 would be the one catch. The last song on my Blankster compilations is always a live & or acoustic version of a song. I think it adds a little something. That's the only rule. Other that that you just never know what you might hear. Anyway, there you have it.
